Usui Reiki Ryoho International Society
At the moment, the practice or reiki is completely unregulated. There is no accrediting agency that offers standardization or recognition of reiki schools – neither in the US nor worldwide. And so, there are as many spinoffs and versions of reiki as there are mushrooms appearing after a rain. As a result, while other natural/alternative healing modalities, such as chiropractic and acupuncture, have begun to gain recognition by medical professionals (sometimes even covered by health insurance), reiki hasn’t. And it has been my experience that reiki can provide a more powerful healing than chiropractic or acupuncture.
So another way in which I intend to honor Usui Sensei's original intent for Usui Reiki Ryoho is to create the Usui Reiki Ryoho International Society, which will be an accrediting agency for all reiki schools around the world that teach the original Usui Reiki Ryoho. Beyond accreditation and standardization, the Society will provide advertising to practitioners, teachers and schools on the Society’s referral website, counseling to existing practitioners and teachers of Usui Reiki Ryoho, and a meeting forum for reiki teachers and practitioners who wish to exchange reiki healing/training.
Members of the society will be permitted to attend monthly reiki meetings (held by the various approved school-members, in conjunction with the Society), which will follow the same format that Mikao Usui Sensei followed – adapted to non-Japanese speakers. This means that in each meeting, we will contemplate spirituality and enlightenment; all members/participants will receive additional attunements (and those feel very wonderful to receive); we will exchange healing (Shudan Reiki); a few members will share healing issues, for which other members will offer solutions and beam reiki energy to heal each issue; and we will conclude each meeting with a reiki healing circuit (reiki mawashi).
Beyond all these nice services and benefits, the Usui Reiki Ryoho International Society will aim to develop a real community – a family of reiki practitioners, teachers, schools, and students that will help us keep our practices pure, be true leaders spreading the Light for ourselves and others, and take pride in our healing profession.
